Home Ovulation Induction
There are times when a little extra and external help is needed for conception. Ovulation Induction provides this help through hormonal medication in the form of tablets or injections. This is done in order to stimulate ovulation or egg development and release. This treatment is also used to increase the number of eggs reaching maturity in a single cycle to increase chances of conception.
This treatment is often recommended to women who undergo irregular menses which result in irregular ovulatory cycles. This treatment is also recommended to women with regular cycles to grow more follicles or to ensure ovulation during IUI cycle.
The Ovulation Induction treatment usually begins in the first 5 days of menstrual cycle by administering medications. The dosage and usage of these medications differ from patient to patient. Ovulation as a result of Ovulation Induction can take place as early as 10th day or as late as 22nd to 24th day. The average duration of the treatment is 12 to 16 days which is monitored closely with molecular study.
In case the cycles are not monitored and result in growth of multiple follicles, patients may experience bloating, constipation or nausea. Similarly, if the dosage of medication is not monitored properly, patients may suffer from ovarian hyperstimulation. These side-effects can easily be avoided with proper dose adjustment.
The success rate of Ovulation Induction is high among young patients who have no contributing factors to infertility. The overall success rate of this treatment stands around 8-10% per cycle.
